hEDS is associated with antibody deficiency which is a condition where the body’s antibodies aren’t functioning properly or are lacking.

Growing up I suffered from chronic infections. When I was 5, I had my tonsils and adenoids removed due to chronic tonsilitis. I had tubes put in my ears when I was around 7 years old due to chronic ear infections. Growing up in school, if a friend was sick, I usually got sick as well. In my 20’s I started getting chronic bronchitis at least twice a year. In 2020, when I was early into my research, I came across an article about IgG levels and immune deficiency. I asked my allergist to do a test to check my levels. They were sure they were not going to find anything significant, but to pacify me, they checked my levels anyway (I’m a persistent little turd, lol). My labs showed that I indeed have an immune deficiency. I was diagnosed with CVID – Common Variable Immune Disorder, a genetic disorder that prevents immune cells from producing antibodies which leaves those affected more vulnerable to frequent infections. For CVID, I infuse Hizentra Subcutaneous weekly. If you or someone you know has chronic infections you may want to ask your doctor to test your IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE levels.

Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and/or share your experience with immune issues here.
